Joseph Shelton
Pledged CD5

Hello, my name is Joseph Shelton, and I use he/him pronouns. I am 27 years old and am honored to be attending the Democratic National Convention for the first time. I am an LGBTQ+ rights advocate based in El Paso County, CO. In 2019, I made history by running for the Colorado Springs School District 11 Board of Education, becoming the first openly gay individual to run for office in El Paso County. Building on that momentum, in 2022, I ran for the Colorado State Board of Education for Congressional District 5, where I was one of three of the first openly LGBTQ+ people to run for state office from El Paso County. Currently, I serve as an at-large executive council member for the El Paso County Democratic Party. My advocacy focuses on LGBTQ+ rights, empowering young individuals, and supporting disabled individuals. I am excited to bring these important issues to the forefront of the convention.

Isaiah Cordova
Pledged at Large

Born in Greeley and raised in Eaton, the epitome of Northern Colorado in my opinion, I am dedicated to progressive politics in my home, hearing stories from my relatives and friends that it would benefit everyone to have strong universal healthcare, closer-knit communities not based around cars, and labor rights. Arrested in 2020 and convicted in 2023, I now have personal experience with the criminal justice system, and understand even greater how ineffective it is at discouraging recidivism, and how uncommitted it is to restorative justice. I'm now firmly dedicated to fixing it where I can. Despite that, I've graduated college and work in the field of my dreams: live music production with IATSE Local 7.

Ayinde Summey
Pledged CD6

My name is Ayinde Summey, and I am an activist and community organizer in Arapahoe County. In the first campaign I participated in, I was a canvasser with my parents for the Obama-Biden campaign in 2008. Since then, I have aimed to do my part in ensuring candidates I believe in are elected. After earning a bachelor’s in political science in 2021, I became a Legislative Aide in the Colorado State Capitol acting as a liaison for an Arapahoe county district. While there I joined the Political Workers Guild of Colorado advocating and securing better working conditions for Capitol staffers. I have since worked various public office campaigns around the state championing immigration rights, advocating on behalf of candidates that will instill equity in the country’s immigration system. My efforts helped ensure a Democratic victory in Colorado’s newest congressional district. I am also Chair of the Arapahoe Young Democrats to return political engagement and discourse among younger voters who have proven to be a critical faction of local politics as well as the party.
